Dr. Seal is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeon focusing on both operative, and non operative treatments to the spine. During his 21 years in practice he has provided exemplary care to his patients treating a wide array of spinal disorders. Dr. Seal focuses on customized care that is going to allow patients to return to previous quality of life before spinal disease. In this process, he utilizes both operative and non-operative treatments tailored to the individual patient. Throughout his career he has also published numerous articles in medical literature and presented his research at national meetings focusing on spinal disorders .

Dr. Charles Seal specializes in Orthopedic Surgery at Town Center Orthopaedics in Fairfax and Reston. Dr. Seal specializes in the treatment of degenerative and traumatic conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. This includes degenerative conditions such as spinal stenosis of the cervical and lumbar spine, acute disk herniations, spinal instability such as degenerative spondylolisthesis, and spinal compression fractures.

As a spine specialist, Dr. Seal is qualified to offer both surgical and nonsurgical care for spinal conditions. He works closely with physical therapists and pain management specialists at Town Center Orthopaedics and uses the latest techniques to improve function and decrease the likelihood of surgery. If surgery is required, he promotes minimally invasive techniques and motion-preserving implants when feasible, which allows his patients to quickly return to their active lifestyles.

While at Town Center Orthopaedics, Dr. Seal is among a team of esteemed experts who recently completed over 100 robotic-assisted spine surgeries, exceeding that of many other surgeons in the region using the Globus Excelsius system, the leading platform for robotic spine surgery.

Dr. Seal attended Texas A&M University, where he was awarded the prestigious President’s Endowed Scholarship. He also played varsity football for the Aggies, earning All-Conference Scholar Athlete awards each semester on the team. As an undergraduate, he played intercollegiate rugby during his junior year abroad at Lancaster University in Lancaster, England. After graduating magna cum laude from Texas A&M, he earned his medical degree at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

Dr. Seal completed his residency at the rigorous R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. After residency, Dr. Seal completed the Henry Bohlman spine surgery fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

Dr. Seal has published numerous articles in journals such as Clinical Spine Surgery and Seminars in Spine Surgery. He has spent the last 15 years in community practice with privileges at Fauquier Hospital and Haymarket Hospital. While at Fauquier Hospital, he served on several committees and was chairman of the Department of Surgery. He championed the Spine Program and helped the facility achieve a Spine Center of Excellence designation, and he introduced robotic-assisted spine surgery to the area. He looks forward to bringing his skill set and clinical acumen to Town Center Orthopaedics and now has privileges at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and Reston Hospital Center.
